Take a "Breather" with Rapper Sheik
Hailing from Sierra Leone by way of VA, rapper Sheik aka SK delivers chill but cocky vibes to call out the consciously impaired with his song, "The Breather." Still slinging bravado, SK's flow simultaneously satisfies the ear with an upbeat track and infectious bars while utilizing a categorization of music he calls New School Poetry. In a raw quote, SK gives us a better idea of what that genre is about: "Music is better with no makeup on, people always relate to raw shit whether it's a love song or a conscious song."

Nave Faces Reality of Ruined Childhood(s) With "Cosby Kids"
In a post-Cosby-allegations-confirmed world, it is now hard to hear the famous surname without cringing. With most of our feel-good childhood memories associated with the cult television show now tainted, rapper Nave found a way to turn ugly sweaters into lemonade with his song, "Cosby Kids."
Check out Nave's depressingly more-bitter-than-sweet nostalgic track after the jump!

The Timeless Uncle Snoop
The story of how rapper Snoop Dogg has remained to be a Hip-Hop staple for over 20 years.
During a time when artists of old are struggling for a comeback, it seems like Hip-Hop legend Snoop Dogg never really left. The chronic endorsing artist, who first bust out onto the scene with his now classic album, Doggystyle, has consistently been creating hits over the years and ties to hold him over. This year alone, the rapper has found a way to incorporate himself into the hit Fox show, Empire, he just recently released his thirteenth studio album, BUSH, and on May 17th, the rapper will be featured on the Nickelodeon animated show, Sanjay And Craig as his fictional alter-ego, “Street Dogg”. Positioning himself as everybody’s favorite pseudo family member Uncle Snoop, the West Coast rapper gives off a feel of being that cool relative you can trust with all your not so wholesome excursions and confessions being that they’ve fucked up enough times themselves to not judge you for your stumblings. With all things considered, you still have to ask, “How can a former gangsta rapper sustain such a flourishing career long enough to be seen as a prime candidate to star in a kid-friendly show while still openly documenting his loud smoking habits on social media?” It’s that same transparent fluidity singer Rihanna has proven to have (Not many people could drop the number one family-oriented Pixar movie, Home and the ruthlessly demanding single, “Bitch Better Have My Money,” in the same week). Let’s take a look at how rapper Snoop Dogg remains timelessly relevant.

'L.O.R.D.': A$AP Mob Announces New Release Date for First Album
If you haven't noticed by now, I love me some ASVP Mob. Their presence and movement is like that of the Dipset days. Except a lot more chill and intentionally motivational. Just start at their namesake, ASAP, which is an acronym for Always Strive and Prosper. You can't get any more clearer about their positive intentions than that. What I like about them is that even though they push others to be themselves, believe in their dreams, and keep it movin', they don't follow any image of what society says motivational is suppose to look like. They don't act holier-than-thou or untouchable; they openly sin like the rest of us and embrace their short-comings. "Short nigga but my dick long" much? Non-stop sizzurp selfies on Insty? A$AP is a lot more relatable, tangible, and believable than how society would say they should be. This approach to life and the industry definitely works for them. Why? Because they remember that they're human.
L.O.R.D., the title of the new A$AP collective album, is due to release March 4th 2014.

BTS with BSB: Troy Ave's New Video for "New York City" [VIDEO]
Up-and-coming, new, New York rapper, Troy Ave, recently released behind-the-scenes footage for his new video, "New York City".
Sir POWDERrrr! got the strong nod of approval on the title track off his upcoming album from legendary New York rappers Raekwon, Prodigy, and Noreaga. The temporary quartet formed for this track have come together as more of a forewarning of what's to come from the Crown Heights rapper with a huge buzz. The track seems like it's more of a statement than a nodder. As if to say, "This is what our city has to give to this game. You have been warned."

The Pseudo Collegiate: Top 5 College Themed Videos
Ahh, it's mid-October. Being that it was not that long ago that I graduated from college, my internal MIDTERMS! alarm clock is going off. Fortunately, this is my first official academic school year out of college so I don't have to worry about scurrying around to fit in last minute studying for bs exams that the professor probably made up last minute themselves. Even so, the one thing I did like about my studying sessions was they allowed me to turn up my Ipod and zone out. In honor and remembrance of the good and annoying aspects of midterms, here is a list of music videos I compiled that are about that college life. Yes, I said, "about that college life".

The Day the Earth Stood Still: Meek Mill responds to Kendrick Lamar
Well, look at you, Terio. Getting inadvertent nods from Meek Mill while being featured on a soon to be infamous hip hop diss and shit.
It's the track we were all waiting for. A credible and relevant response from an artist Kendrick Lamar ACTUALLY called out on Big Sean's now infamous track, "Control". The supposed "bringing-hip-hop-to-where-it-use-to-be" track that has made waves in the hip hop world has only riled up and garnered the attention of irrelevant rappers enough to respond. Up until now, Kendrick's named comrades have either brushed off the rappers' attempt at calling them out or have remained in complete silence. I was starting to think we had a bunch of lazy, borderline pussy rappers running the game now.
Check out Meek Mill's Kendrick diss after the jump.
